Golden Bay history

River Press has operated as a small New Zealand publishing company since 1994 and  specialises in books about the Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman districts. Many of our titles feature aspects of Golden Bay history. Our photo history series covers the Takaka Valley, Collingwood, Waitapu and the Motueka wharf. Our books are about pioneer farming, sawmilling and transport, and include black and white photographs of many Golden Bay families and businesses. The next book in the photo-history series will cover Motupipi, Clifton, Pohara, Tarakohe, Ligar Bay and Totaranui. Takaka history features prominently in our most recent title How is the River? by Jane McDonald, which includes East Takaka and the Takaka tramway.

Publisher Carol Dawber is an experienced editor, indexer and oral historian who works with a team of freelance designers and typesetters.
